A New Way To Shop Solstice Night!

I have been working out a new and easier way to shop Solstice Night. The square shop makes it simple for both me and my customers. I can easily add a special order item, the customer can go right online and pay, and I can ship it out ASAP! This will be easier than etsy for me and I won't have to wait for peoples checks to arrive in the mail (Not that I have had a problem with it yet!), but it is just easier all around!  Check out my new shop!

Hello, Spring?

Even though spring officially started a couple of weeks ago, winter keeps popping in and out like a cruel prankster. He teases us by allowing spring to hang around for a few days and then takes her away and gives us a chance of snow for the weekend. It is time for you to travel farther north Mr. Winter! You have over stayed your welcome. I am so very ready for the warmer temperatures and sunny days, but I am mostly ready for gardening! Sadly, my garden will have to wait until the end of the month. I am able to get my gardening fix right in my kitchen though. I have herbs, a small palm, and I even have an avocado plant.  Have you ever heard of plants that will re-grow? Well there are quite a few plants that will and it is so easy, so it is alright if you do not have a green thumb! My favorite to re-grow is green onions. They are so easy! What you do is keep the elastic band that comes around them to keep them in place. Once you have cut them down to the light green/white area, stick them in a little glass and add water! It is that simple! They will start to re-grow with in a day. They usually take about a week or so to grow back to their regular size. You can also do this with romaine lettuce and celery!
As mentioned above, I do have an avocado plant, but it would take years and the right climate for it to become an actual tree. It does make a neat little plant though if you are looking for a fun greenery project. I can not take credit for the one I have. My mom grew it and gave it to me when she came to visit me. There are some great videos on youtube that teach you how to do this.

Healing Brought To You By Mother Nature!

There are many ways for people to heal and Mother Nature is the best source. Healing goes in many directions, it does not always mean that a person is physically ill. Healing can mean that we need to cleanse and refresh our energy- similar to last weeks chakra healing.  One of my favorite tools for healing are gemstones. Gemstones can be meditative in a way. This is because you hold this natural treasure in your hand and connect with its energy. I actually feel like it is almost like a mantra because you focus on this one thing and move it around your hand in a continuous pattern. They have sort of become a big part of my life recently. I can actually hold one and know that it belongs to a specific person, or know when a person needs a specific gemstone. For example, Someone I care about had to have surgery (for privacy reasons I am omitting details and names). I talked with them on the phone and while talking with them I felt a sudden urge to get a bloodstone. I thought for sure I would be getting them an amethyst, but a bloodstone was the stone for them. My point is that if read that a stone is specific to what your healing needs are but are drawn to a different stone, get the one you are drawn to. There are many different gemstones, so I will only name a few of my favorites.

Amethyst - This is a very popular stone. It is a beautiful lilac colored stone. I find purple to be a healing color and my favorite color at that. Amethyst can help  soothe anger, anxiety, frazzled nerves, grief, an tension. This stone can also enhance your meditation practice,  I love holding this stone when I meditate. It is also a good stone for people with low self-esteem.

Apache Tear - This stone is quite intriguing. I was drawn to this stone when my father passed away. I felt a strong urge to find this stone and was very uneasy until I did, and for good reason! Apache tears are black but translucent when held to light. They are said to be the tears of Apache woman and family members who lost loved ones in an attack. This website explains the legend in more detail.  http://www.firstpeople.us/FP-Html-Legends/Apache_Tear_Drop-Apache.html. It is quite a sad story, but makes the stone have more meaning I think.  Apache tears are useful in times of grief. It can help you shed those painful tears, release grief and negativity, and become at one with your loss. I know first hand that this stone helps. I still hold one when I am missing my father.

Moonstone - Moonstone comes in a variety of tones - Grey, cream, white, and brown. This is a great stone to release blocked energy. It helps to calm the mind, brings balance and confidence, and soothes inner emotions. This is a wonderful stone for woman of all stages of life, as it does balance out the emotions. I have many different ones and love them.

Bloodstone ( or Heliotrope) - Since I mentioned it previously I thought I would write about it. Bloodstone is actually a deep green with red speckles throughout, hence it's name. This stone is useful in times of stress because it is centering, which will calm an individual. This stone will encourage strength in a person who is afraid and helps you to face challenges. It is a great meditation stone and will release energy blocks. I think that is why I was drawn to this stone for that specific person.

Cleansing your stones is very important because it could be holding on to the energy of who ever held it before you bought it. I like to stick them in a bowl of sea salt for a day. Sea salt is purifying and absorbs any unwanted energy. You can use your stones different ways, such as just holding them, but you can also wear them as jewelry. There are many beautiful pieces out there, I find etsy to be a great source of gorgeous pieces. Everyone heals in their own way, this is one of my favorites. Some people will be skeptical of this, and that is ok - it is not for everyone. I have used stones for so long and have always had a positive outcome. When I meditate - it helps, when my father passed away- it helped, when I am having an anxiety attack-it helps.  For me, they work and hopefully this will help you to continue on the road of healing.

        The Grounding Of The Chakras

January is a bit of a difficult month for me. It was never like that, but that changed last year when my father passed away. I honestly dreaded this January, but then I realized I did not need to dread it. What I needed was a change on how I viewed my fathers passing, a little meditation, and a lot of grounding. I searched through all of my new age books and the Internet and came up with a variety of different cleansing type rituals(if that is the right word for this) that I could do. I also looked within to see what I may already know. Don't always rely on books or your computer, you may be surprised what you already have inside that beautiful body of yours! I settled on a seven day healing/aura/chakra cleanse, or to put it simply-spiritual cleanse. I am not going to give you a complete step by step version here because everyone is different. I will give you a few tips on how to do this though. You can also just meditate, but that is up to you. Chose a room where you will not be disturbed by anyone-even your pets. Believe me, it is not fun to come out of a meditative state and have your sweet little husky's nose an inch from your eyeballs! With that said, keep the door closed. I used my yoga mat for this meditation. Lie down, close your eyes, and picture all of your chakras. Start from the Root Chakra and work your way up. The point is to visualize each chakra and their colors. You want to see the colors pulsing and connecting with each other. All of your chakras should be aligned and connected. Once you reach the last chakra, the Crown Chakra, you will visualize a white light surging through your entire body. Now visualize the white light shooting out of your crown chakra and connecting with the Earth. This aligns the chakras and grounds you. After my meditation I showered any leftover negative energy. Once I was done showering I used a gemstone elixir that I made for specific healing properties. It is water, essential oil, and small gemstone pieces. I personally used moonstone and smokey quartz for mine. Each person is different though, so if you need assistance on which gems or oils to use, message me.This is a small portion of my spiritual cleanse. I plan on doing this each season and look forward to healing. Thanks for being a part of my healing journey!

                                The Tuesday Tidbit!

Today's post is about cinnamon and nutmeg, a popular holiday spice duo. There is more to these two spices though and they go beyond an apple pie. When I think about these two spices I get a sense of warmth. They both have a little heat to them but not in a way that you would think. Most people associate heat with cayenne pepper, but many herbs and spices have heat to them and work in different ways. Below, I have listed some of the info that I know on these two spices. There is more information out there but that would be one long post! I am sharing with you what I personally know. As always, This information is for educational purposes and is not meant to diagnose or cure any diseases. If you are on medication or have a medical condition please speak with your doctor before trying anything new.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is an anti-inflammatory, a perfect use if you have joint pain. It is an antifungal so if you deal with candida, this is a good spice for you. A natural decongestant which may be why this is a perfect winter spice! This is the time of year for the need for a decongestant. Cinnamon is also helpful for indigestion. Another nice thing about this spice is that it is an antibacterial and antimicrobial, meaning it can help fight things like E. coli. It also boosts brain function! The list goes on!

Nutmeg

My favorite thing about nutmeg is the comforting feeling I get from it, which may be why it is a calming spice and helps reduce anxiety and help you sleep.  Like cinnamon, nutmeg can help relieve joint pain as well as indigestion. It is also a great brain tonic just like cinnamon.

So how should you include these lovely spices to your day? How about adding them to your morning coffee or tea! It is so tasty and warming, perfect for these cold winter days! I like to use organic cinnamon and whole nutmeg that I can grate myself.

best part of an independent business is knowing you are supporting someones talent.
